to play tight means to me that you are being very selective about starting hands.
especially when in early position.
so that means only playing pairs, and suited connectors. not betting as often as i would and letting the table dictate the action.
ironically this style of play invariably gets me into trouble.
it almost falls under playing scared.
not that you're weak when playing this way, but that you become increasingly readable.
good players will just muck their hands and you will only win a few dollars. so you don't end up with a very good hourly income. win a 15 dollar pot and then have to pay 3 dollars every 10 hands when you are only playing 3or4 hands an hour.
to me, this style should almost exclusively be used for tournament play. where increasing blinds discourage loose calls.
i find i am the most profitable when i am aggressive and dominate the table.
always keeping in mind the few players at the table whom i do not want to get into a tussle with unless i have a monster.
i hope that i answered your question jen, again thanks for your comments.
i think you have to sign up for an account or maybe it's like an email to give comments.
i don't really know, i spend all my time on here entertaining the masses.
enough of this banter.
let's get some real action talk next entry.
i think i'll go to paris today.
as always any comments or suggestions will be welcomed and instantly commented on or ignored. lol

Travis,
It’s great to see that you are enjoying yourself out there. As you know, taking time away from the tables can also improve your game. First it allows you to relax, get a nice tan and sip some cool frozen drinks with little umbrella’s and fruit. Two it gives you time to think how to improve your game. I am glad to see that you are mixing it up. Times playing extremely tight and other times being a dominate force at the table. I would agree that playing tight early on in tournaments is better and then become a chip bully if and when have the position to do so. When you play cash, I think your style is improving. Be who you are and take the mind set that you went out there with and you’ll do fine. The most important thing is to enjoy what you are doing and not get so stressed that you loose focus.
I know I should be providing more feedback, but I’m too an artist and at times a lazy one. I like the pictures posted from both your slideshows. Nice picture of Devon with his eyes popping out from him.
You have to love Colorado weather. Today is will reach in the high 70’s and tomorrow be in the 50’s.
Play your game and look forward on your play at Paris.
Eric
