Another day, another dollar

in response to annie's question, yes i have tipped the cashier. usually only if i cash out for a big win and there is like 3 or 4 bucks left. same thing with maid service. leave a couple bucks on the sink for the people who make your bed and clean the bathroom.

Las Vegas is all about the kick backs.

in response to a question from my cousin,
I started with 5k, plan to stay for at least a month.
and my goal is to make this my profession. to make more than 20k a year would be better than i made last year.
i would ultimately like to get into some of the smaller wsop tournaments. but i think that i will focus more on the binions 10% deals. if i win one of them then i'll go to the bigger ones. if i win, or place in one of them, then i'll go to the main event.

but for the most part, i would like to build my bank roll to about 10k and consistently play in the 2-5 games (usually 500 to 1000 max buy-in depending on which poker room you're at) this i think is my best chance for consistent profit.

i will be moving into Devon and Stacey's extra room on friday. that should bring an extra bit of normalcy to my life.
i am already on the night shift. play all night, sleep all day.

hopefully we will go shooting this weekend, i gave Devon 50 bucks for ammo. he has a complete arsenal. and i mean complete.
i might have a list of his toys later.

played at sahara last night after having gone back to bed after my blog entry yesterday. just had a headache that wouldn't quit.
cashed out for +250. was up 400, but had AA cut up by AKoff. i've seen that twice in the last 2 sessions. not a very common thing. i don't know the percentage, but it has to be less than 8%.

i'm gonna play at venetian again today. beautiful room. the waitresses wear like these little playboy bunny outfits with a thong. they must make a ton of cash. but that's not the reason to play there, so many rich golfers. love taking that kind of money.

i've been playing 1-2 nl so not to risk to big a portion of my roll at any one time. but if i double up i'm moving up to the 2-5 tables tonight. i do better more consistently there.

note to prospective players, you can't bluff a loser.

i am only down a G now from my first 2 day loss of 1800. but that also includes spending like 3-4 hundred on food and entertainment. i've been dividing my expenses between credit cards and cash. usually anything that isn't a hundred gets spent on living expenses.

i love all of your comments and would encourage you all to spread the word about this blog to anyone you think would find it interesting. i really look forward to the comments. it's like my only connection to the people i love. more of a chance to let my internal guard down. you have to be on the defensive at all times here. the separation of rich and poor is like the flip of the coin. for the most part all you have to worry about is the smell, but you can never predict the actions of a desperate person.

this is turning into the daily grind i expected. i haven't lost my initial buy-in since the first 2 days. a strong sign on good play.

Good to hear that you're being more disciplined and that you will have a place to stay! Thank Devon and Stacey for me. It's hard to believe it's only Day 11! What happened to the poker room tour? I've only counted 4 poker rooms so far (MGM, Binion's, Sahara, Venetian), and according to my research there are 22 poker rooms on the strip, let me know if you want the list. Bye honey, talk to you later!

Dude, you knew tipping hotel housekeeping is not a Vegas specific thing, right?

Glad you're getting settled!

The contrast between your posts and Katy's sunny, sweet comments is pretty true to life. I mean that in the best way. ;)

Travis,

My friend Chris from work mentioned that he thought the Imperial Palace poker room gave $3.00 per hour with no maximum per day for their player's club. Obviously, that is based on his recollection from a while back, but you may as well check it out and knock another room off of the list. I agree with Katy, since we all envy you, you may as well do us a service by scouting the best places. Hell, $3 an hour will buy you the best meal in the house at the IP after a day's work. Isn't it close to the Venetian anyway?

That is really cool that Devon is letting you move in. Be a good roomate and clean your room! You don't want that arsenal being used against you in anger.

Now that you have a place to stay, I think a new poll should be started. Number of days before you are in the black. Keep working hard, staying sober and playing smart and I'm guessing by the end of next week.
